Last month I discussed how Energy Work could be used to help with Anxiety, but energy healing for mental health is so broad that I couldn’t fit it all into one article.  Since May is Mental Health Awareness month, which is something I strongly stand behind, I wanted to take some time to discuss the broader idea of energy healing for mental health and everything it entails.  Energy healing when used for any type of healing should be part of a holistic approach.  While energy healing is a powerful tool for handling Mental health problems, mindfulness and lifestyle are also important factors and should be discussed as well.

The Broad Topic: Energy Healing For Mental Health

According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), tens of millions of Americans are affected by mental illnesses each year, and only about half of people with mental illnesses receive treatment.  Energy healing for mental health has been growing as a solution for many individuals because it tends to be more affordable than traditional healthcare options.  It’s also an alternative approach to mental healthcare for those that may not trust doctors, are tired of just being prescribed medications, or don’t feel like talking to a therapist.  Energy healing can be a quiet meditative experience, which is very fitting for individuals who may not be quite ready to open themselves up to talk to someone, especially if it involves trauma.

Addressing Trauma When Approaching Energy Healing For Mental Health

I discussed it briefly in my post on energy healing for anxiety, I wrote about it in my chapters in The Ancestors Within anthology series, but it can never be said enough that the trauma you carry within you can easily come from your ancestors and your past lives, and it needs to be addressed.  When I perform energy work, I pick up on little pieces of information from your past lives or things from your ancestors that may still be affecting you in this lifetime, and I discuss those with you after I’m done performing my energy work.  At the same time, if you allow yourself to go into a meditative state while I’m performing energy healing on you, you may also get some insights through your senses as to what is being healed and released.

When we discuss it after, we don’t have to go deep because the healing work has already been done, and your body, on a spiritual level, is already starting to heal those wounds.  So together we acknowledge the past traumas and the experiences they brought to your many lifetimes, and we send them on their way.

Similarly, you may have trauma from your childhood or early adulthood that was given to you by people who were struggling with their own traumas.  These situations may also come up to be released and healed during an energy healing session with me.  The best part is that no matter if we’re healing past life trauma, ancestral trauma, or childhood/young adulthood trauma, we’re also healing others by healing ourselves.  We remove the wounds and we free people (alive and deceased) from being energetically tied to those traumas because they no longer exist.

Using Mindfulness To Assist Your Healing Journey

While most of what we do in an energy healing takes place during your session, the affects will continue to pour in over time.  As time passes, you may start to feel like you’re bringing back some of the old attachments or wounds that we cleared and healed.  While you can always book another session and will see the best results doing so, it’s also important to practice mindfulness in between sessions.  The best analogy would be to compare it to going to the dentist.  Going to the dentist for a cleaning every six months is great, but if you’re not brushing your teeth and flossing daily in between then you’re not really focused on your oral health; you’re just wanting someone to fix your problems.  That’s not how it works.  You have to be able and willing to put in the work for your healing to work.  Practicing simple mindfulness exercises can be a great resource for assisting energy healing for mental health.

Making The Right Lifestyle Changes To Aid In Your Healing

Along with being mindful comes being more aware of your actions in each moment.  This helps to give you the clarity to think about your actions before you do them.  A lot of people who struggle with mental health issues like anxiety and depression will have behaviors like acting on impulse, self-medicating with alcohol and drugs, and following others without fear of the consequences of their actions.  This can often lead to a spiral of feeling more anxious/depressed or having a feeling of low self-worth.  Being mindful and making certain lifestyle changes can help to reduce these behaviors and stop the cycle.  Practices like grounding, forest bathing, and meditating near a moving body of water are all mindful energy healing practices that have proven results of helping people feel less stress and anxiety.  They would be great to incorporate into any lifestyle, especially if you’re struggling with mental health.
